Hello crafty friend! Hope you are having a wonderful day. I'm very happy today since it is international Scrapbook Day (iNSD) and it means lots of fun for us paper crafters. To celebrate this special day, Simple Stories is having an Instagram Hop and I made a trifold album to share with you. They are holding a giveaway there, so don't forget to check it! This album is very interactive, with flaps and pockets, and can hold plenty of photos. The collection I used in this album is Simple Vintage Berry Fields. This gorgeous collection is one of Simple Stories' summer 2023 releases so you can find it hitting stores now. As a gift for you, I recorded the process to create this trifold album, which you can see below. Also, I prepared a sheet with measurements and some notes to help you create the album. Now, let's see a few photos of the album, and you can watch the process video at the end and download the measurements sheet.
For this, I almost used a full 6" x 8" paper pad. I only had 3 or 4 full sheets left and a few strips of paper. I also used a few 12" x 12" sheets of patterned papers, the 12" x 12" sticker sheet, the sticker book, and die cuts. In the cover, I used foam stickers and a piece of the layered chipboard pack.
For this type of album, where the pages are made out of cardstock and are held in place with tape, like in a book, I prefer to not use foam tape on the embellishments. If I need to use it, I use a very thin foam tape. The white cardstocks with the borders are the photo places/mats, I made the border using a black Sharpie pen.
In the pockets, I added a few 3" x 4" cards and a 4" x 6" card. I backed them with the coordinating solids from the collection. This creates more impact and can hold a photo mat on the back.
In the center area of the album, I added a photo cascade. They are just flaps that you can lift to reveal the photos. I decorated this area using the 4" x 4" cards in a 12" x 12" sheet of paper. To hold them in place, I added a belly band and magnets. Then, I decorated the band with a piece of layered chipboard. Aren't these layered chipboards amazing? They definitely make our lives easier!
This yellow flap is the only one I made out of patterned paper. I added it before adding the blue paper. It is held in place with the butterfly wing. In this case, I added a piece of thin foam tape behind the wing to lift it a little and make it easier to slide the flap there.
This album is very fun to make, I enjoyed creating it and adding all those flaps and pockets!
