Holly & Jolly Christmas Layout

Hello crafty friend! My name is Rebeca Ruiz and today I'm sharing a layout I designed with the "The Holiday Life" collection by Simple Stories. Since Christmas is my favorite season, every year I try to take a few family photos so I can scrapbook them, and this collection is the perfect match to help this photo stand out.

The color palette in this collection is gorgeous! I love having reds and greens in my holiday layouts. To make it even better, it has a floral pack! 

For this layout, I started by choosing the background paper. The Welcome Christmas paper is complete perfection! The kraft border, the beige central area, and the bird on the bottom are so pretty that I couldn't resist using it.

After choosing four patterned papers, I arranged them in the layout and distressed the edges. When adding the papers, I try to mix designs, colors, sizes, and directions. By doing this, I add interest to the layout and help the photo stand out.

 

Once the papers were ready, I started the embellishing process. For that, I used floral die cuts and rub-ons in two corners. I created two clusters and played with the foam tapes to give the die cuts dimension and to create layers in the page.

 

Since there is a bird and some black details on the bottom of the paper, I continued with the palette by adding small black details in the clusters. This way, I create balance in the layout.

 

For the title, I mixed foam stickers and die cuts. Below the word Christmas, I added a label and a phrase to make it longer and more interesting. Then, I added a tag and a label on top for more texture in the page. After that, I added a few enamel dots. They are just amazing: I can have a dozen of those, the colors are fabulous, and the best part is that they have glitter. In the end, I stitched a border around layout to give the impression that it has more than one paper.
