School Rules Layout

Hi! The Book Fair collection by Simple Stories is so pretty that I couldn't resist creating a layout about my daughter's first day of school in 2024. It is always so nice to see how she has changed over the year and documenting those memories is a fun and great way to preserve those special moments. For this layout I created a reel where you can see the process video in a fast way, but before that, let's talk about this layout.

The paper with the pencils caught my attention instantly. I knew I wanted to use it in my layout, so after choosing it, I cut around the pencils using a precision knife. This allows me to add the other patterned papers behind without covering the pencils. After that, I chose the photos and placed them in the central area of the layout.

To enhance the photos and help them stand out in the layout, I added a few different patterned papers behind them. The papers I chose have a contrast between them. First, I used the beige polka dot paper to mat the photos, then I added a piece of teal and blue patterned paper behind them, allowing the photos to capture the viewer's attention. Then, I added the red paper to have a strong color there to balance the layout.

For more texture in the layout, I stitched a border around some of the papers using white thread and the sewing machine. On top of the photos, I added the title. There, I made a cluster to capture the viewer's attention. I mixed different products to make the layout more interesting.

Below the photos I added a pink ruler fussy cut from one of the papers. Isn't it cute?

Between the photos, I added the subtitle "1st day" to help me tell the story about this layout.

Finally, to create a visual triangle, I made a little cluster to the left of the photos using  products from the Book Fair collection.

Let's take a look at the process reel to see how I made this cute and fun layout.

Thank you very much for visiting my blog. I hope you like this layout, and it inspires you to craft.

Have a wonderful day and come back soon for more inspiration.
