Cold Days Mini Album (Tutorial and Videos)

As a paper crafter, I love beautiful papers and embellishments. Just by seeing them I get inspired, and this is what happened to me with this beautiful Cold Days collection by Miss Kate Designs. The colors and designs in the collection are so pretty that despite not having any photos in the snow, I decided to create a cute mini album to use this collection. At the end of this post you can see a flip through video of the album. But because it is Christmas, I want to give you the instructions of this mini album so you can make it too. Check the tutorial video of how to make it and the PDF's instructions available in English and Spanish.

This mini album is small. It measures 5" x 7" when closed. It's very easy to assemble and requires only 2 cardstocks for the construction. I'll be working on the tutorial, as a Christmas gift for all of you crafters!

For the closure, I made a magnetic band using cardstock and patterned paper. It was embellished using a those cute penguins I fuzzy cut from one of the papers.

When you open the book, you find the flaps and two accordions in the middle. To secure the accordions I used circles punched from cardstock and patterned paper, and secured them with an eyelet. Then, I used twine to maintain them closed.

In the next photos you can see close-ups of those areas. To embellish the album, since it doesn't have photos, I added the stickers to white cardstock and fuzzy cut them to create die cuts. This way they are harder and I can apply adhesive exactly where I want, leaving the photo area available.

When you open the accordions this is what you find. Some of the embellishments were added with foam adhesive for dimension and interest, but not all of them because then the album would be too thick and the embellishments can get damaged.

In the middle part of the album you can find an envelope made with a patterned paper from the collection. Inside the envelope are two 4" x 6" and two 4" x 4" cards, matted with white cardstock on the back for photos. It stays closed thanks to a piece of Velcro I added to it.
