Good Times Layout

Hi!

How are you?  Hope you are doing great!  I've been a little sick for the past four weeks with a severe cough and finally this week I'm doing and feeling better.  Today I'm really happy for two reasons, the first, is because I'll be back at teaching! Today I'll be teaching in the scrapbook retreat by the local store Pega, Papel y Tijeras en AEIOU at Rincón, Puerto Rico.  This is not my first time teaching, but it's been almost five years since I closed Scrapper's Place and tought my last class.  But now I'm back at scrapbooking and ready to share my knowledge and art with others!

The second reason is because one of my layouts was featured in the Summer 2019 issue of the Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine and  it's digitally release today!  Recently, a friend encourage me to submit my work to the magazine and I did it.  This was the first time I submit one of my layout to a magazine call and was thrilled when they contacted me because they liked it and wanted to publish it.  My layout is title Good Times and is featured in page 29, under the Page Maps section.

Check the magazine, it'ss amazing!  They are doing a great work, releasing always a beautiful issue, full of great projects and ideas.  And if you are like me, who loves to feel the pages and have your magazine with you every time, don't hesitate on ordering the printed magazine, basically they only charge for the shipping and the magazine is AMAZING!  The quality of the paper, the photos, the wording and all make it worth, I highly recommend the printed issue of the magazine, I love it, every time I receive an issue my heart gets happy, like a kid with a candy.

Now back to the layout, to create it, I used the sketch they provide in the magazine call designed by Page Maps.  In every issue they share a sketch for inspiration and gives the opportunity of using it to create a layout for submission.  I loved the layout immediately because it features three photos.  I'm a person who loves to photograph, so I take lots of photos every time I grab my camera or phone.  This is why I try to use at least two photos per layout, because I want our story to be full of memories preserved in photos and the journaling of the layout.

The papers, stickers, chipboards and die cuts are from Echo Park Good Day Sunshine collection.  The colors in thiscollection are so pretty and happy, perfect for these photos of us last summer playing with our daughters in some slides at a park.  To create the scalloped border I used a scissor and cut it free style.

I added some paint splatters using white acrylic paint and some metallic gold with the Shimmerz Miner, Miner 49er.  Also, did some machine stitching around the page using yellow thread.

I created a small cluster in the title area, using some chipboard, stickers and some flowers fuzzy cut from the papers and did some machine stitches using yellow thread in the paper stripe under the title.

The title was made using Thickers from American Crafts.  The sun was fuzzy cut from the papers and added with foam to the page for additional dimension and more interest.

I created another little cluster in the corner of the photo and the journaling using chipboards and sticker.  For the journaling I fuzzy cut a scalloped circle from the papers and handwritten it.

Thanks for your visit and hope you get inspire to create!

Until soon,
