Hi!
Last year, while vacationing in Arizona, we visited Hole in the Stone. It was a lovely walk, and the view was absolutely amazing. To document some of the photos from our visit, I created this layout using the gorgeous Open Road collection by Simple Stories. One of the things I love most about this collection is its color palette. The earthy tones, combined with hints of mint and coral, make it perfect for documenting all kinds of photos and adventures. Let's take a closer look at the layout!
This time, I used white cardstock as the background and selected three large photos as the focal point of the layout. Since the photos were different shapes and sizes, I overlapped and arranged them in the center to create a balanced composition.
To help the photos stand out on the page, I matted them with a patterned paper featuring colorful diagonal stripes. Behind them, I added a large piece of the coral map paper to tie the entire design together. Then, to add even more color and visual interest, I incorporated two strips of contrasting patterned papers.
Along the top edge of the layout, I used a vine-patterned paper and a sticker with a torn-edge design to create a decorative border. This border makes it easy to incorporate any of the colors from the collection while embellishing the layout.
For the title, I combined the "Family" foam sticker with the "Let's Go See the World" cardstock sticker. To help anchor the title on the page, I added a vine scalloped border die cut beneath it to create balance. Then, I embellished the area with stickers, decorative brads, and enamel dots to complete the design.
In the upper right corner of the layout, I created a second embellishment cluster using two tags cut from the patterned papers, a floral die cut, and a phrase sticker. I also added a few tiny foam flowers, chipboard asterisks and a heart, a decorative brad, and two enamel dots. All of these little details help balance the layout and add an extra touch of charm.
Under the title, I added a green die-cut arrow pointing toward the photos. It's a simple way to draw the viewer's attention and naturally guide their eyes to the focal point of the layout.
It was so much fun creating this layout and reminiscing about the wonderful time we spent at this beautiful place. The view was absolutely amazing! If you'd like to see how it came together, be sure to watch my process video on Instagram at
