Hi!One of my favorite things when creating is building layers and adding texture, especially when the products make the process effortless. For this page, I used the gorgeous Simple Stories Simple Vintage Timeless Harmony collection, which is filled with elegant designs perfect for embellishing any project beautifully. In this layout, I combined several of the collection’s stunning elements — music notes, instruments, butterflies, flowers, and birds — to highlight my daughter’s photos in a wreath-inspired design that looks intricate yet is surprisingly easy to create. Let me share a little more about how this page came together!
To create the base for the photos, I cut two circles from patterned papers in the collection. The larger circle measures 8" in diameter, while the smaller one measures 7.5". To add extra texture and dimension, I distressed the edges of both circles before layering them together. Next, I matted the photos using the green gingham paper from the 6x8 pad along with die cuts from the collection. This is such an easy way to build visual layers while taking advantage of the printed designs that beautifully mimic clusters of layered papers.
After that, I began embellishing the layout. For the top section of the wreath, I used floral die cuts to enhance the design and create a soft, elegant focal point. I combined flowers in different sizes and, with the help of foam tape, added layers and dimension throughout the cluster. To give the page even more texture and interest, I incorporated foam stickers, additional floral accents, and small bits of rub-ons, creating a subtle mixed media effect that ties everything together beautifully.
For the title, I combined a die cut phrase with a foam sticker word. I added foam tape to the die cut and placed both pieces beneath the photo to help balance the overall design. As a nice touch, I added white paint splatters across the page. This subtle detail gives the layout a more artistic feel while helping to visually tie all the elements together.
Next, I made three cuts around the green background paper and backed them with the music notes patterned paper to continue the musical theme while enhancing the vintage feel of the layout. This small detail adds extra interest and helps frame the design beautifully.
To finish the page, I added decorative brads and enamel dots throughout the clusters. These final touches bring even more texture and dimension to the layout while completing the overall composition.
