May Documented Layout

Hi! I'm thrilled to share with you a layout I created using the My Life 365 collection by Bella Blvd. This beautiful collection is a great way to highlight special moments of every month in a fun way. For this layout, I accepted the challenge of using the May products in the My Life 365 collection and a sketch to document an important memory of this month. So, let's take a closer look at the layout while I tell you all the details about it.

The sketch I used for this challenge is from Page Maps. After a break, they are back, sharing new and inspiring sketches like this one I selected from May 2025. When searching for the sketch, I was looking for one where I could use those two photos of my daughter, and also, the tags in the collection. I made a few changes to adapt the sketch to my photos' orientation and the products, but the main idea is visible.

For the background, I selected white cardstock to help the colorful papers stand out in the layout. Then, I backed it with a Bella Besties teal cardstock to create a frame around the page. This is a technique I love to use in my projects. It's something simple, but it makes a great difference in the appearance of the layout. An easy way to select a color for the frame is to coordinate it with a main color in the photos to help them capture the viewer's attention.

Once the background was ready, I started adding the patterned papers to it. Since my daughter's dress is colorful, I chose a Bella Besties yellow cardstock for the central area. The subtle pattern in the paper allows the photos to pop in the layout. Then, I matted the photos using a colored stripes patterned paper from the collection, and the pink gingham paper from the Bella Besties. Behind the yellow paper, I added a strip of floral paper to have a peek at the sides of the photos. It is a busy paper, but since only a small portion can be seen, it helps the layout be more fun and colorful.

The sketch suggests using two scalloped borders, but I made changes to make it work for the products I was using. Above the photos, I cut a border with big scallops using a pink Bella Besties cardstock. Below the photos, I used a hearts border I fussy cut from the May paper in My Life 365 collection.

After that, I started embellishing the layout. The tags are also from one of the papers in the collection. The flower arrangement in the Polaroid photo is from the Bella Pops. The title is from My Life 365 Ephemera Words and the stickers. The rest of the embellishments are from My Life 365 Ephemera Icons, Bella Pops, Puffy Stickers, Ciao Chip, and Epoxy stickers. When creating the clusters, I like to mix different products to create texture in the layout. I play with them to find the perfect placement and use foam tape to add dimension to some of them.

Thank you very much for visiting the blog. I hope you like this layout, and it inspires you to craft. Come back soon for more inspiration!
