On Our Way, Let's Go Vacay Layout

Hello! I am sharing a layout I designed with the gorgeous Happy Travels collection by Simple Stories. As a family, we love to travel and take vacations together. It is always an opportunity for good memories and lots of photos to scrapbook. For me, the vacation starts the moment we leave our home. Last year, we visited California to celebrate our little daughter's birthday.  On our way to the airport, I took this photo of us in the car to document our happy faces, and I'm documenting it in this layout full of textures and cute details. Let's take a look at the layout while I tell you how I made it!

For my photo, I used a chipboard frame originally made for two small photos, but I cut the division in the center to fit one larger photo. For the background, I chose the colored and the off-white map papers to implement the idea I had in mind. I cut the colored strips, distressed them, and glued them on the right side of the off-white map paper. I cut them shorter to expose the base paper and help the stitched line be seen.

On the left side of the layout, the off-white map paper allows me to add the photo and use other patterned papers from the collection to enhance it. The black paper was the first one I used behind the photo to create contrast with the frame to enhance it. Then, I added the paper with the colored strips and a piece of the green paper in the bottom area.

The title of this layout is big; this is why I divided it. On top, I used the "On Our Way!" die cut and anchored it to the layout using a label cluster I cut from the 4x6 cards paper.

The other part of the title is under the photo. There. I used the "Let's Go!" and "Vacay" words from the foam stickers. To embellish the area, I cut a tag from the 6x8 paper pad, and used a die cut with the passport, journal. and stamp.

Once all the main elements were ready, I started adding the little details to the layout to make it look even better. I used different products from the collection to add textures and interest. Above the photo, you can find die cuts, foam stickers, chipboard stickers, decorative brads, and enamel dots. On top of the frame, I added the chipboard binoculars on top of the printed ones.

Below the photo. I made another cluster using the products from the collection to balance the page and enhance the travel theme. By repeating the designs, I made the layout more interesting and helped the viewer stay focused on the page. At the end, I stitched a black zig-zag border between the off-white map paper and the Navy Color Vibe cardstock.

Thank you very much for visiting the blog. I hope you like this layout, and it inspires you to craft. Don't forget to come back soon for more inspiration. Have a wonderful day!
